Shipping accounts for more than 80% of total world trade volume and by 2015 exceeded 10 billion tonnes for the first time according to the UNCTAD report (2016). International Business academic director Mercè Roca examines the challenges ahead for the Port of Barcelona in her latest article for Empresa Exterior.

Professor Roca is the academic coordinator of the areas of Marketing and Research Techniques at ESCI-UPF and director of the Master of Science in International Business jointly offered by the Barcelona School of Management and ESCI-UPF. She is member of the group of Research in International Studies and Economics (RISE) of ESCI-UPF, the Business Analytics Research Group (BARG) and the Behavioral Sciences Laboratory (LEEX-BESlab) of the UPF. She is lecturer of statistics, data processing and market research techniques at bachelors’ and master’s level.


Prof. Roca’s research, which includes numerous prestigious publications and competitive projects, focuses on the design of research techniques and the analysis of data for studies related to the processes of decision-making of consumers and organizations, corporate social responsibility and the internationalization of the firm.
